Roll Your Own

7-Card Stud variant · also called “Choose ’Em” or “Flip”
Wild card game

How to Play

Roll Your Own is seven-card stud where you choose which of your down-cards to flip face-up each street — you “roll your own” instead of the dealer turning cards for you. The twist: each player’s lowest face-down (hole) card is wild, so deciding what to expose and what to keep hidden is the whole game. Everyone antes $1; the best five-card hand at showdown wins. Bets and raises are a flat $1, with a cap of three raises per round.

🎴You roll your own. Choose which down-card to flip face-up each street.
Lowest hole card is wild. What you keep hidden — and which card is wild — shifts as you roll.
🤔Expose or hide? Show your wild and you lose it; keep it down and you bluff blind.

A hand, step by step

  1. Ante. Each of the four players antes $1, so the pot starts at $4. The dealer calls “Roll your own — lowest hole card is wild.”
  2. The deal. Three cards face-down to each player. Everyone looks, then simultaneously rolls one card face-up. Highest card showing starts the betting.
  3. The streets. Three more cards are dealt face-down, one at a time. After each, every player rolls one of their down-cards face-up, then a $1 betting round follows (max three raises).
  4. Your lowest hole card is wild. Of the cards you keep face-down, your lowest one plays as any card you want. Roll a card up and your remaining hole cards — and which one is wild — can change.
  5. Final card. A seventh card face-down. Players keep one card hidden going to showdown, so the wild is decided at the very end.
  6. Showdown. Remaining players reveal. Best five-card hand, using each player’s wild hole card, wins.
