How to Play

7-27 is a friendly split-pot draw game with two targets: 7 (low) and 27 (high). Card values are unusual — Aces count as 1 or 11 (your choice, and you can switch each card), face cards count ½, and everything else is its face value. You start with one card down and one up, then take turns deciding to draw another card or stand. After the betting, players declare; the hand closest to 7 without busting splits the pot with the hand closest to 27 without busting. Everyone antes $1; all bets and raises are a flat $1, capped at three raises per round.

A hand, step by step

1. Ante. Each of the four players antes $1, so the pot starts at $4. The dealer calls “Seven Twenty-Seven — low seven, high twenty-seven.”
2. The deal. One card face-down and one card face-up to each player.
3. Card values. Aces are 1 or 11 (you pick, per card); Kings, Queens and Jacks are ½; all other cards are face value. A total may never go over 27 — that busts.
4. Draw rounds. In turn, each player may take another up-card or stand pat. A $1 betting round follows each draw round (max three raises).
5. Declare. When everyone stands, players declare which way they are going — toward 7, toward 27, or both.
6. Split. The hand closest to 7 (not over) takes half the pot; the hand closest to 27 (not over) takes the other half. Bust hands win nothing.
