How to Play

5-Card Draw is the classic kitchen-table game — the one most people picture when they think “poker.” Each player gets five cards face-down, all private. After a betting round you get one draw: discard up to three cards and take fresh ones to improve your hand. A final betting round follows, then the best five-card hand wins. Everyone antes $1; bets and raises are a flat $1, capped at three raises per round.

A hand, step by step

Ante. Each of the four players antes $1, so the pot starts at $4.

The deal. Five cards face-down to each player. Only you can see your own cards.

First betting round. Starting left of the dealer, players bet, call, raise, or fold — flat $1 bets, max three raises.

The draw. In turn, each remaining player discards 0–3 cards and is dealt the same number of replacements.

Second betting round. One more $1 round after the draw.

Showdown. Remaining players reveal. Best five-card hand wins the pot.
