How to Play

Baseball is seven-card stud with a baseball theme. The numbers do the talking: 3s and 9s are wild (nine innings, three outs), and if you’re dealt a 4 face-up, you may “buy” one extra card — a walk to first base. Everyone antes $1; the best five-card hand at showdown wins the pot. Bets and raises are a flat $1, with a cap of three raises per round.

A hand, step by step

1. Ante. Each of the four players antes $1, so the pot starts at $4. The dealer calls “Baseball — threes and nines wild, fours buy a card.”
2. The deal. Two cards face-down and one face-up to each player. Highest card showing starts the betting.
3. The streets. Three more cards face-up, one at a time, with a $1 betting round after each (max three raises).
4. The “4” rule. Any time a 4 is dealt face-up, that player may pay an extra $1 to buy one more card.
5. Final card. A seventh card face-down, then a final $1 betting round.
6. Showdown. Remaining players reveal. Best five-card hand, using wilds, wins.
