How to Play
Texas Hold’em uses five shared “community” cards dealt face-up in the middle of the table. Each player gets two private hole cards and makes the best five-card hand from any combination of their two cards and the five in the middle. Here at the home table we keep it friendly: everyone antes $1 to build the pot (no blinds), and every bet or raise is exactly $1, capped at three raises per round.
🟢Five shared cards. The flop, turn, and river sit face-up in the middle for everyone to use.
🃏Best five of seven. Mix your two hole cards with the five on the board however you like.
🤝Friendly stakes. A $1 ante instead of blinds; every bet and raise is $1, max three per round.
A hand, step by step
- Ante. Every player puts $1 into the pot before the deal. With four players, the pot starts at $4.
- Hole cards. Each player is dealt two cards face-down. A betting round follows (pre-flop).
- The flop. Three community cards are dealt face-up in the middle. Betting round.
- The turn. A fourth community card is added. Betting round.
- The river. A fifth and final community card is added. Final betting round.
- Showdown. Best five-card hand from your two cards + the five shared cards wins the pot.
